Keep in mind that Ocelot goes on to help Big Boss set up outer heaven/is friends with big boss, or maybe they are 'comrades' in some way. Ocelot probably wanted to test Big Boss (for his own pleasure, or otherwise. Had he known the true loyalty of either he would have killed them. He though Ocelot was a loyal member of GRU, and a promissing young Officer. He though Tonya was Sokolov's lover, and in turn he made her his lover. Volgin had no idea that he had spies all around him. She was always a spy for the Chinese government. She didn't know the plan on what the agents were doing, or why she would be there so she just made stuff up as she went along just answering questions as best she could so Snake wouldn't get suspicious. We have no idea what happend to the real Eva. So adam became a Major, and the commander of the Ocelot unit of GRU. Both Adam and Eva infiltrated the KGB, from here it seems that the KGB used adam to get close to Volgin. The defection was just to get two CIA opreratives in the higher workings of the Soviet Military/Goverment. We know adam wasn't even NSA, but really CIA so it's possible that the same was true with EVA. Thats obvious when during the Volgin battle, Ocelot throws things down to Snake, and Volgin keep looking up at Ocelot and saying things like "why are you helping him" and "shoot him",but Ocelot ignores Volgin.Īdam and Eva "defect" to the soviet union. Ocelot only give up his identity when he thinks Volgin is going die. I am confused as the original poster is about who gets sent and who should have been sent and by who to Rassvet to meet Snake. There were actually 2 spies, but no one knows that. Ocelot eventually dimes her out as the spy, so as to preserve his spy status since Volgins camp knows there is a spy amongst them (Snake keeps getting help and he could not have done what he did without help from someone in Volgins ranks). Thats why she has to get back to the base before Ocelot does, so Ocelot does not figure out that it is her. In the scene is Rassvet, Eva never takes her helmet off, so Ocelot cannot see who she really is. Eve however, who is Eva was suppoesed to be a US spy, but double crossed them and really was a Chinese spy.Īdam (Ocelot) did not know Eva (Tatayana) was the other spy in the beginning, but he catches on towards the end with the whole "smell" thing he does to her. Adam and Eve are spies from the US who really did not defect, they just act like they did to Volgin/The Boss. This is actually a great topic, and one I have not yet fully understood too.
