If it's not looked at tonight, my buddy offered to come down and look at it himself as he says he has no faith in there ability to deal with things that aren't mechanical but electrical.ĭo you guys think we are looking at something simple? Bad fuse, old battery terminal connections needing new cables, loose or exposed wire/connection or something upon these lines? I'm kicking myself in the ass because clearly right after my battery change my car was fine, just missed plugging in the sensor and clearly my fiddling with the batter terminals did some kind of harm or damage when my car was actually fine and I more than likely created my own problem. I have no faith that my car is being taken care of properly by these people. I've been home all day, waiting on there call because I have no cell phone and guess who still hasn't even bothered to look at my car? In fact it's just sitting in there parking lot, all unlocked as we speak. Offered a $50 electrical diagnostic and promised me they would do it in the morning. So there I was stranded and they were closing. Tried to jump, lights and stuff would come on when the cables were on, but it would all kill upon attempting to turn over, just nothing, no turn over attempt, lights black etc. Wouldn't turn over, wouldn't give me any lighting, nada. But once again, once the car was turned off. Popping my hood there I could instantly see my stupid mistake and plugged that bad boy back in. Still not realizing my issue was the sensor I stupidly took her to Pep Boys. Stupid me adjusted the battery connections again and created a spark in the negative terminal (Because I didn't shut my headlight switch off) but the cars power returned and turned over, back to stupid reving idle (From the lack of the Mass Airflow) Problem was when I went back out to my car, same issue as the Target parking lot. My guy being away Pep Boys seemed to be the obvious quick Cel check. Well stupid me didn't realize this simple obvious cause and thought I should have the cel checked. My power cable to my Mass Airflow Sensor got knocked out while changing the battery. I was checking vacuum lines and all these less common and more serious problems thinking one should have been the cause and looked over the absolute obvious cause. I knew something was wrong and checked a ton of crap, but here is where I REALLY made a stupid mistake. Changed it out, she started right up but caught a Cel and has reving up and down on idle. Stores were closed so got her home and a new battery on the next day, Tuesday. Had to rev the charging vehicle at a solid 2500 rpms for about 7 mins straight and build up a surface charge and she turned over. Lots of fiddling under the hood and phone calls with my mechanic and we diagnosed what we assumed had to be "A dead battery who just flat out just went 100%" Shut her off and key fab didn't work to lock her. Took my girl to Target on Monday, she ran fine, no electrical issues, no problems. It was closing time and the Tow fee to my mechanic/friend was much higher than the $50 diagnostic fee. My Girl Is Sitting At The Dreaded "Pep Boys" For Electrical Issues And I'm Concernedģ000GT, 96, SL, ATX with custom work and mods.Ģnd, this was the 5th issue this week, I didn't CHOOSE to take my car to Pep Boys, I went there for a quick Cel check and some possible parts and she didn't start.
